MasterCard SecureCode is free for AAIB MasterCard Credit Card holders
+ Is MasterCard SecureCode easy to use?
Yes, MasterCard SecureCode is quick and easy to use. When you shop online at participating merchants who show the MasterCard SecureCode™ logo; you will be asked to enter your MasterCard Secure Code. Your One Time Password (OPT) will be sent to you as a SMS on your registered mobile number.
+ Do I need to apply for MasterCard SecureCode?
No, all AAIB MasterCard credit cards are automatically registered for the SecureCode
+ What is a One Time Password?
A One Time Password (OTP) is a unique 6-character code, which AAIB sends to your mobile phone via SMS upon your request to make an online transaction. It is valid for only one transaction and can’t be used more than once. A new OTP is sent for every transaction
+ What is the benefit of OTP?
An OTP is a security solution, which enhances the security of your online transactions. AAIB sends an OTP via SMS to your mobile phone for one-time use only
+ For how long does an OTP stay valid?
An OTP is valid for 10 minutes from sending it, in which it will be expired afterwards. If the OTP expires, you have to cancel the transaction and request a new OTP
+ Can an OTP be re-sent before the end of the specified login period (10 minutes) in case the first SMS was not received due to technical failure?
Yes, an OTP can be re-sent only once before it becomes invalid
+ What happens if I enter the wrong OTP by mistake more than once?
The transaction will not go through if you input the wrong OTP. The maximum permitted number of wrong attempts to enter an OTP is 3 times. If you entered the wrong OTP thrice, your MasterCard SecureCode service will be suspended for your card security. To reactivate your Master Card SecureCode service, please call AAIB Contact Center (19555)
+ Can I save the OTP to be used again in another transaction?
No, an OTP is a unique PIN valid only for one transaction. A new OTP is sent every time you make an online transaction. If multiple transactions are done, an OTP will be sent for each transaction separately.
+ Should I delete the OTP after each transaction?
We recommend deleting the OTP from your mobile phones after using the OTP and completing your transaction
+ What should I do if I change my mobile phone number registered with AAIB?
You should promptly contact AAIB to report the new mobile phone number so that the OTP SMS can reach you and you can complete the transaction successfully online.

+ How long does it take to receive my credit card after applying?
If all the required documents are presented to the bank you can receive your credit card in 5 working days.
+ I already have an AAIB credit card. Can I apply for another credit card from AAIB?
AAIB offers 2 types of Credit Cards; Visa and Master Card. If you have one type you can apply for the other within the same granted limit.
+ What is the Smart Card?
The Smart Card uses microchip technology to provide a wide range of services. The Smart Card’s advanced technology combines security with flexibility and efficiency to give you all the advantages of the new generation of credit cards.
+ How can I control the usage of my supplementary credit card?
Every card has its separate limit so you set the limit upon requesting the card.
+ What happens if my credit card is stolen?
You have to call 19555 to deactivate your credit card immediately and ask for a card replacement from your AAIB branch.
+ What are the steps which i should take to cancel my credit card?
First, you should settle all your credit card balance then request a card closure.
+ What is the credit limit offered on AAIB credit card?
AAIB offers secured and unsecured cards. For secured cards, you are entitled to a credit limit that equals 90% of your deposits. For unsecured cards, you are entitled to a credit limit equivalent two times your monthly net salary.
+ Is it possible to ask for a higher credit limit?
Yes, in case of an increase in your salary you can present your new salary slip to your branch and your credit limit can be raised.
+ What is the personal identification number PIN that is sent to me when I receive my credit card?
The PIN code is a unique number that is used for cash withdrawals from the ATMs and is also required by the merchants while making purchases through the POS.
+ How do you make your credit card payment?
You can make your Credit Card payment through any of the following:
AAIB Branches
AAIB ATMS
By leaving standard orders to your current and saving accounts
By transfers from your accounts with other banks
AAIB delivery service whereby a courier is sent to your location to pick up your payment for a fee of EGP10
+ Is there any credit cards that don’t charge foreign transaction fees?
No
+ What is the minimum payment?
You have to pay only 5% of your outstanding balance.
+ I forgot my PIN number. What should I do?
Go to your branch and sign a request to issue a new PIN.
+ What should I do when my card is about to expire?
Your renewed card will be delivered to you ahead of time.
+ What is the difference between local and international credit cards?
A local card can be used only inside Egypt; you can withdraw up to 100% of the credit limit. International credit cards can be used both inside and outside Egypt.
+ What is the maximum withdrawal amount per day using the ATMs?
Maximum withdrawals are as follows:
For the local cards you can withdraw 100% of your credit limit
For Visa International and Gold, you can withdraw 50% of your credit limit
For MasterCard, you can withdraw 50% of your credit limit with maximum EGP 5000 per day
+ If I don’t pay off my balance in full, how much will it cost me in interest?
AAIB interest rate is 1.85%
+ Can I use my credit card online?
Yes, but you have to call 19555 to enable the usage of your card on the internet.

Our grace period is 55 days on all purchases from POS.
+ How many supplementary cards can I issue?
You can issue unlimited number of supplementary cards.
+ I received an e-mail from VISA asking for my credit card details. Should i respond to this e-mail?
Recently fraudulent e-mails have been sent to a number of customers claiming to be from AAIB or VISA or MasterCard. These e-mails urge customers to click on a link directing to a fairly realistic looking website, where they are asked to input or verify details including account numbers, user names, passwords, PINs, Credit Card numbers.
AAIB or VISA or MasterCard will NEVER ask you for your account number or user ID or password or Credit Card numbers or any other personal security details what so ever via e-mail.
NO e-mail from AAIB or VISA or MasterCard will contain a hyperlink to the internet Banking log on page. If you receive any suspicious looking e-mails, do not carry out any of the instructions and immediately contact our Call Center 19555 (24/7).

The outstanding balance on the Credit Card should be settled
The card must be handed in to AAIB to be destroyed
The block on the amount against the Credit Card limit is lifted 3 months after the card’s cancellation
+ Can I deposit my interest in a Savings Account rather than a Current Account?
